The Full Moon Connection

The Full Moon Connection

In ancient times, it was common to track the changing seasons by following the lunar month rather than the solar year, which the 12 months in our modern calendar are based on through the combination of Anglo-Saxon, Native American and Germanic month names.

The Moon, appearing as a body larger than the Sun, was endowed by the imagination of the peoples with a masculine role, while the Sun was assigned a feminine role. Many languages reserved a masculine name for the Moon. It was probably when the Moon was removed to a greater distance from the earth and became smaller to observers on the earth, that another name, usually feminine, came to designate the Moon in various cultures and religious traditions, the moon has been depicted as a deity or associated with a deity. Here are a few examples:

Chandra in Hinduism: Chandra is the Hindu deity of the moon and is considered to be the brother of the sun god, Surya.

Selene in Greek mythology: Selene is the Greek goddess of the moon, depicted riding her chariot across the night sky.

Mani in Norse mythology: Mani is the Norse god of the moon and is said to drive a chariot across the sky, pulling the moon behind him.

Thoth in Egyptian mythology: Thoth is the Egyptian god of the moon and of writing, often depicted with the head of an ibis.

Tsukuyomi in Japanese mythology: Tsukuyomi is the Japanese god of the moon and is said to live in the moon, where he rules over the night.

Silver is known as the metal of the moon

As a metal throughout its properties silver perfectly manifests the main Moon principles – reflection, connectivity, sensuality. This is where our physical world in the form of silver marvelously mirrors metaphysical principles of the Moon. And that is why in astrology, esoteric traditions and poetry.

Silver can be also found in Earth’s crust in its pure, free elemental form as its native element - silver nuggets. Because of that silver was known since the very first chapters of human civilization. Knowing this, peoples clearly sense the guiding principles behind silver. It brings nurturing, purifying and protective power, reflectivity and the ability to replicate. Today, we can measure this (Reflective) glow from the Moon, scientists can accurately estimate how much Earth itself shines, and even the composition of Earth’s atmosphere.

Like the moon reflective glow, silver bounces back any negativity and protects the wearer. That is why your silver jewelry is more than just an adornment.

CMG’s (Crystal, Mineral, Gemstone) when wrapped or set in silver, become more powerful. Silver amplifies energetic properties CMG’s as well as boosts the connection between you and the stone, so you can deeply tap from the forces represented by each mineral.

CMG’s also are believed to have the ability to absorb and hold unique energies, both positive and negative. Knowing this it is no surprise many cleanse their stones on the Full Moon to clear stones energy and also recharge the positive energies or natural properties that it holds.

There are many ways that you can cleanse your crystals, some cultures and religions of moon rituals will start 1-2 days before the actual full moon.

  1. Gather CMG’s on a bowl or wood, preferably on natural surfaces such as the lawn or soil, and have them in view of the full moon.
  2. Leave the CMG’s to charge overnight in the moonlight, don’t forget to remove certain Gemstones that may fade in sunlight the next morning. Otherwise leave over 24 hours on the full moon cycle.
  3. Set intentions in your CMG’s when placing them to absorb wanted positive energies.
  4. Lastly when collection your stones, give thanks to whatever higher being you believe in for example, the Universe, God, Mother Nature, etc.
